April 24-26: Youth Worker Retreat
Our churches continue to recognize the importance of ministry to children, youth and young adults. In order to celebrate and nurture those who work in these areas of the Church, Camp Carew is offering a weekend retreat for youth workers. Anyone who is active in ministry to young people - whether as a paid youth ministry staff member, as a volunteer, or as pastor of the congregation - is invited to this time of rest and reflection.
Join youth workers from around the Presbytery as we retreat together: to pray, to rest, to learn, and to be renewed by the One who has called us into this important ministry.
Year-round cabins at Camp Carew are now available so that youth workers can spend time curled up quietly with a journal, walking through the woods, praying near the lake, or sitting at the campfire. Most of all, you’ll find a space where you can be still ... and know that God is God. (Private rooms are available on “first-come, first-served” basis.)

“Unbinding” Retreats:
Below is a list of available retreats which support the work our congregations are doing with the book, “Unbinding the Gospel.” Contact Camp Carew leadership to host these retreats either at Camp Carew, or at your church.
Learning to Pray: Cultivating a Practice for Life
Uncertain about your prayer life? Frustrated with questions about prayer? Feel like you want to explore different types of prayer? This is a retreat for the novice, for the more experienced, and for those simply looking for ways to spend more time in prayer.
Telling Our Stories: Reflections on the Journey of Faith
Throughout Holy Scripture, we find individuals and whole communities who reflect on their life with God, and then put that experience into words. They share their experiences - their stories - for the good of others. We follow in their footsteps: reflecting on our journey ... and learning to offer the gift of our stories.
Practicing Hospitality: Extending Welcome in All Things
Before welcoming a guest, we prepare a place for them. Together, let’s consider the ways in which we can prepare our hearts, our lives, and our communities to welcome others. Let’s seek to welcome strangers as we would welcome Christ himself.
Exploring the “E-word”: Beginning the Evangelism Conversation
The word evangelism conjures up a variety of images, ideas, and memories. The first step in having a conversation about evangelism is to consider our own opinions and feelings about evangelism ... and to explore ways of doing evangelism that feel authentic to our own lives and our understanding of the gospel.
The Pastor Sabbath Program:
It is no secret that many pastors struggle to find time for Sabbath. And yet, Sabbath is vital to our spiritual life and our ministry. In response to this need, Camp Carew extends an invitation to all pastors to “come away for a while.” Come to Camp Carew: to pray, to rest, to learn, to be renewed by the One who has called you into this ministry.
New year-round cabins at Camp Carew are now available to pastors at no charge so that they can spend Sabbath time curled up in a private room, walking through the woods, praying near the lake, or sitting at the campfire. Most of all, pastors will find a space where they can be still ... and know that God is God.
The Pastor Sabbath Program invites pastors of the Presbytery of Southeastern IL to spend Sabbath time on Tuesday or Wednesday night (at no charge) at Camp Carew. Meal service is not available. Space is limited, so reservations are required and can be made by calling 618.457.5596. Click HERE for more information.
